The emphasis in this little painting is the central figure sitting overlooking the view on a hot sunny South African day. One can almost feel the heat with the stark white large bricks in the foreground, contrasted to the umbrella, painted in an emerald blue, which further contrasts with the beautiful fresh blues created in the sea, and the movement of the waves.
